
The Detroit Pistons crushed the Los Angeles Lakers, 128-106, spoiling LeBron James' 41st birthday celebration at Crypto.com Arena. Cade Cunningham led the way with a game-high 27 points.
Despite the close game, tied at 79-79 in the third quarter, Detroit's offense suddenly picked up steam. The Pistons outscored the Lakers 49-27 in the final period, while taking advantage of 20 turnovers by LA for 30 points.
Coach JJ Redick acknowledged that the Lakers have been affected by injuries and errors. He said it's difficult to build an identity due to changing rotations and the absence of key players.
LeBron James praised the Pistons and Cunningham, calling it a “fast, explosive” team. James was limited to 17 points, while Luka Doncic led LA with 30 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds.
The Pistons improved to 25-8 to extend their lead in the Eastern Conference, while the Lakers fell to 20-11. Marcus Sasser contributed 19 points off the bench for Detroit.
