
Nine OFWs who were victims of human trafficking in Myanmar have safely returned to Manila, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). They arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 via Thai Airways and were greeted by DMW, OWWA, and NAIATFAT.
They immediately received financial assistance and welfare support from DMW and OWWA. According to DMW, they will report in January 2026 for legal aid and further case management. Many of them were duped by social media job ads and forced to work in cyber-scam centers.
In Manila, a 12-year-old boy died and another was injured after a firecracker exploded in Tondo. According to the MPD, the children picked up the firecrackers from the road and lit them on the sidewalk. Investigations are ongoing while awaiting the results of an autopsy and post-blast examination.
