The Philippines, through Foreign Affairs Secretary Theresa Lazaro, has expressed its condolences to Australia following the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney. Lazaro called Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong to express “sincere condolences” to the victims.
According to Lazaro, the Philippines stands with Australia and strengthens cooperation in security and law enforcement. He also expressed Filipinos' support for measures against intolerance, hatred, and violence.
Australian and Philippine authorities have confirmed that the two suspects in the attack — a father and son — visited the Philippines in November before returning to Australia. One of them was killed in the incident, while the other remains in critical condition in custody. The purpose of their visit to the country is still under investigation.
