Sony Pictures has confirmed that Men in Black 5 is in development and has hired Chris Bremner, the writer of Bad Boys For Life, to write a new script.
After the 2019 flop of Men in Black: International, the studio decided to return to the core franchise. The film is being written to try to bring back Will Smith as Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K. Smith has not yet signed on, but he will be the first to be given the script and whether he joins depends on the quality of the draft.
Bremner's hiring is a big step because he has proven that he can bring Will Smith's films, such as Bad Boys, to life. With the entire series having grossed nearly $2 billion worldwide, Sony is confident that the franchise still has great value and that returning to the original formula is the easiest way to revive it.
