The Commission on Audit (COA) released a report showing that P200,000 per CCTV was acquired by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) in 2024. According to the record, seven CCTV units cost P212,464 each. The OVP said it went through the proper process and is part of the security of offices and vehicles.
The report also showed the OVP acquisition of MacBook Air laptops, which were priced at P120,842 each. Although the price is lower at reputable resellers, it is possible to reach more than P120,000 depending on the specs and software. Also seized were aircon units for P73,505 each and multi-purpose vehicles for P1.028M per unit.
There was a incorrect listing in the report regarding photocopiers, which were initially listed as “laptops.” According to the OVP, the staff made a mistake because the 12 photocopiers were donated units from an old contract. The COA noticed that the amount entered was incorrect, causing the account to increase by P1.21M compared to what was supposed to be.
The COA also identified several problems in the Mag-Negosyo Ta Day livelihood program. 138 beneficiaries were given assistance without first assessing the feasibility of their projects. There were also delays in the liquidation of P2.115M and a lack of monitoring visits that should have been done within three months.
The COA suggested that the OVP improve donation processing, proper recording of equipment value, and better monitoring of programs funded by the office.
