EA Sports is skipping F1 26 and will focus directly on the big F1 2027. Instead of releasing a separate F1 26, they will make the entire 2026 season a premium update to the base game F1 25.
The update will feature the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship, along with new cars, new rules, and updated teams and drivers. This is considered a strategic reset, as they will move from annual releases to live-service style support.
In 2027, a bigger, more authentic, and more modern F1 game will be released. This will include new gameplay and deeper partnerships with Formula One Management and all F1 teams.
According to Codemasters Senior Creative Director Lee Mather, they are still fully focused on the F1 series. The extra development time is to change and improve the way F1 is played in a new era.
For players, the direction is clear. F1 25 will be the live platform for the 2026 update, while the broader and all-new F1 2027 is in the works.
