Acclaimed game creator Hideo Kojima has confirmed a Death Stranding anime series with the title “DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS” (working title). It was announced at the Disney+ Originals Preview event in Hong Kong and is set to premiere in 2027.
The new series will be 2D animation and will feature a different story from the original game. Kojima himself will serve as executive producer, with Takayuki Sano from E&H Production as director. The character design will be done by Ilya Kuvshinov, known for Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045.
ISOLATIONS is set to provide a new perspective on the world of Death Stranding. It will revolve around the story of a young man and a young woman who both face their own struggles amidst the isolation of humanity.
The project aims to portray the theme of social connection and disconnection, using a unique animation style. Death Stranding's entry into the anime world is proof of the franchise's expanding influence following the success of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which was released in June this year.
Currently, there is no specific release date, but it will definitely be one of the most anticipated shows on Disney+ in 2027.
