Mazda's New Infotainment Concept at the Japan Show?

Mazda seems to have a surprise in store for the Japan Mobility Show. At first glance, the elegant and clean design of the Vision X-Coupe and Vision X-Compact concepts is striking. They still call it Kodo – Soul of Motion, but it's been improved—it seems to have evolved like a Pokémon! You can see the taller front design and new C-shaped taillights that wrap around the “MAZDA” lettering.

It's not just the exterior that's the focus, but also the interior. Mazda may be showing off two new infotainment concepts. In the Vision X-Coupe, you'll see a wide digital screen that extends all the way to the passenger side. There are three tiles or widgets and a separate display for the passenger. There are vertical shortcuts on the side and a horizontal bar for climate control.

Meanwhile, the Vision X-Compact could potentially be the basis for smaller models like the next MX-5. Here, the infotainment screen is placed vertically next to the round digital gauge. There are shortcut buttons at the bottom and climate control at the top. Although the screen is smaller, its layout is still effective for navigation, music, or car settings.

There are two round controllers on the Vision X-Compact, while toggle switches are on the Vision X-Coupe. Also noteworthy is the AI virtual companion that can communicate naturally with the driver.

Although these are just concept cars, it's clear that Mazda is serious about developing a innovative man-machine interface. If they can pull it off, it could become standard on future Mazda models—from ₱1.5 million and up—with a smarter infotainment system for every trip.
