The five schools in Pampanga received almost simultaneously bomb threats on Monday, October 6. According to Col. Eugene Marcelo, all the threats were hoaxes after conducting an inspection.
No bombs were found at Pampanga State University (Bacolor and Mexico), Pampanga Colleges (Macabebe), Holy Cross College (Sta. Ana), and Our Lady of Fatima University (San Fernando). Threats were sent on social media and stated that they would explode from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. However, no explosion occurred.
Students were immediately evacuated before police and bomb-sniffing dogs conducted a search. As a result, many complained on social media about long lines at the vehicle terminals.
Marcelo recommended that schools be provided with training on how to deal with bomb threats and implement better security. The cybercrime unit is currently investigating the source of the threats to identify the suspects.
The next day, October 7, two universities in Angeles and San Fernando also received bomb threats, but authorities again declared them safe.
