A boy in Thailand has been hospitalized after being attacked by a lion that escaped from a private home in Kanchanaburi. The incident reportedly happened while the boy was walking home on Saturday night.
According to local media, the boy had come from playing with friends when he was suddenly attacked by a lion. In Thailand, keeping lions is allowed, and there are nearly 500 registered in zoos, farms, and even homes.
The owner of the lion, identified as Parinya, has been charged with violating environmental laws. He could face up to 6 months in jail and a fine of ₱89,000 if found guilty.
Authorities confiscated the lion and transferred it to a wildlife breeding center. The owner apologized and promised to cover the child's hospitalization costs as compensation.
The wildlife department reminded that wild animals are inherently dangerous, and any incident that affects the lives and property of others is subject to legal penalties.
