The two fishermen who were reported missing after going ashore last Friday while Typhoon Opong was raging in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro were found alive in San Agustin, Romblon.
They were identified as Adrian Evangelio, 20 years old, and his brother-in-law Kevin Amar, 25 years old. According to Mayor Aaron James Madrona of San Agustin, local fishermen found them in the area of Corcuera Island while they were still weak and dehydrated. They were immediately taken home and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to Kevin's wife, Rhea Amar, the two were found around 5 p.m. on Sunday. Other fishermen reportedly noticed the lights on their boat and approached it. There, they found Adrian and Kevin, who were already in a lot of pain but alive.
Rhea is very grateful for the survival of her loved one. She said, “I thank the Lord and He answered all our prayers. Finally, they were found safe and we just need to be strong.”
Their small boat used for fishing was also recovered.
