
British boxing legend Ricky Hatton has died at the age of 46. Manchester police said Hatton was found dead at his home in Hyde. They said his death was not being treated as suspicious.
Hatton is a former world champion in the light welterweight and welterweight divisions. He has a record of 45 wins (32 knockouts) and 3 losses over a 15-year career. He has faced famous boxers such as Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.. His best fight came in 2005 when he defeated Kostya Tszyu to win the IBF title.
In 2007, he was knocked out by Mayweather, and in 2009, he lost to Pacquiao by second-round knockout, losing his IBO and The Ring titles. Hatton last fought in 2012 against Vyacheslav Senchenko, where he lost by ninth-round knockout.
Aside from the ring, Hatton has been open about his struggles with depression, alcohol, and drugs. In 2016, he admitted to attempting suicide several times. He was due to return to action this December for his comeback fight in Dubai.
Hatton was a well-known Manchester City fan and often wore sky blue shorts in support. Many boxers and fans paid tribute to him and extended condolences to his family and friends.
