22-year-old rider Jenny Herona died after her raincoat got caught in the tire of her motorcycle and was hit by a van in Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City. She was on her way to deliver dressed chicken as a sideline to help support her two siblings' education.
According to the investigation, Jenny lost control when the motorcycle's chain pulled her raincoat. As a result, she ended up in the other lane and was unable to avoid the oncoming van. In addition, she was also carrying almost ₱25,000 worth of chicken, which further affected the motorcycle's balance.
When her mother arrived, her daughter was bleeding and lying on the street. Divina Herona said that the pain was intense because Jenny was helpful and kind. She chose to work first to support her siblings' education rather than pursue her own dream of studying.
The victim was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The van driver promised to cover all expenses for Jenny's funeral and burial.
The family is now appealing for help for the education of the victim's siblings, as the mother is now the only one supporting them.
