A drunk police officer in Digos City shot his live-in partner with a service pistol, killing him instantly on Sunday night, August 31. The victim's mother was also injured and is currently hospitalized.
The suspect was identified as Patrolman Orland Porquido Dinoy, 30 years old. He was immediately armed by barangay officials and volunteer watchmen before being taken into police custody. He is now awaiting charges and possible dismissal from service.
According to the police, Dinoy and his partner, Mealjoy Basilgo Lapeña, 30, had an argument and exchanged insults before he was shot ten times, causing his death. His mother, Mirla, 50, was also shot and taken to the hospital.
Neighbors said that Dinoy often drinks alcohol and becomes violent when drunk. Because of this, barangay and police officials in Digos assured that they will file administrative cases against him for his permanent dismissal from the PNP.
