
The Marikina City police chief has been removed from his post while an investigation into a molestation case against a female police officer is underway. According to the PNP, two police officers were accused of assaulting their colleague.
Acting PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said an investigation will be conducted and the first step has been recorded. The aim is to determine if Marikina Police Chief Col. Geoffrey Fernandez was negligent in managing his men.
According to Eastern Police District Director Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante, the investigation will be broad, and will include the suspect's colleagues, team leaders, sector commander, and even the Women and Children Protection Desk. The suspects' substation commander has also been removed from his post.
According to the report, on August 17, two male police officers approached a patrolwoman while she was on duty and invited her for coffee. The molestation allegedly occurred inside a police mobile at a jogging lane in Libis, Barangay Sto. Niño, at around 9:30 p.m.
Administrative and criminal complaints have been filed against two men—a patrolman and a police staff sergeant. They have been temporarily transferred to the EPD's District Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit while the investigation continues.
