A 29-year-old TNVS driver identified as Julian Ceazar Payoyo is safe after he was allegedly stabbed and beaten by a fake passenger in an attempted carnapping in Macabebe, Pampanga on Thursday.
According to the police, the victim picked up the two suspects in Taytay, Rizal after booking a trip to Pampanga past 2 a.m. Upon arriving at Brgy. Consuelo, Macabebe, he was suddenly stabbed in the back and beaten with a gun.
While still holding the gun, the driver managed to steer the vehicle into a electricity pole to call for help. This brought him to the attention of residents and barangay officials.
The suspects fled and hid in the grass but were quickly tracked down by residents and reported to the Army detachment. A replica pistol and grenade were recovered from them.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are facing charges of carnapping and frustrated homicide. The local government is covering the hospital expenses of the victim who is still recovering.
