According to Jean-Luc Ambridge Lavelle, the initial idea focused on performance and silhouette. Although he is not a trail runner, he is often in the mountains so it was natural for him to design shoes that could be used for actual walking. The goal is to help not only with appearance but also with human use.
Thomas Cykana, senior director of collaborations, said the Mafate X was perfect for the project because it was the brand's first shoe to use a carbon fiber plate. It was designed for increased durability and comfort on tough trails.
The first collaboration in 2023 was a success and sold out immediately upon release online. So now, the partnership has been further strengthened to create a more advanced and functional product.
