A number of festival-goers in Cornwall, England were left upside down in the air for nearly 20 minutes after the Apollo 13 thrill ride malfunctioned.
The incident happened at midnight at the Boardmasters music festival. In a viral video on TikTok, the ride can be seen stationary in an upright position while four passengers are hanging overhead. According to organizers, there was a temporary power loss, which caused the ride to stop as a safety precaution.
Apollo 13 is a traveling attraction that stands 180 feet tall (the structure cost more than ₱9.7 million if converted to materials) and can hold eight people. Organizers ensured that passengers were out of danger and immediately underwent a full safety check before reopening.
The ride is considered one of the highlights of the music and surfing festival, which attracts thousands of people each year. Since it opened in 2024, it has frequently shared on social media the maintenance process, including cleaning gears and checking the security of the lights.
Despite the shocking scene, no one was reported to have been hurt or injured in the incident.
