A lawmaker has filed a bill to tighten the regulation of online gambling. One of his main suggestions is to raise the minimum bet to P10,000 from the current P1. The aim is to prevent the poor from easily falling into gambling addiction.
According to the senator, it is difficult to ban online gambling because it can continue underground. So instead of banning it, it is better to adjust regulations to monitor the industry.
He also criticized the connection between online gambling and loans that are making Filipinos miserable. According to him, gambling addicts often end up in debt because of poorly regulated online loan apps.
