Filipinos will now be able to travel more to India as it will offer a free e-visa for Filipino tourists. The move aims to boost tourism and ties between the two countries.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the news after a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who is currently in India for a five-day state visit. Modi said, “India and the Philippines are friends by nature and partners in the future.”
Apart from the free e-visa, both countries will launch direct flights between Manila and Delhi this year to make travel easier. The flight will start on October 1, and will operate five times a week using an Airbus A321neo with Business, Premium Economy, and Economy Class.
According to Marcos, he expressed his deep gratitude to India for the free e-visa scheme. He also encouraged Indians to visit the Philippines. He added, “This is a big step in strengthening our 75-year relationship and expanding connectivity.”
Meanwhile, according to data from the Department of Tourism, nearly ₱80,000 Indian nationals visited the Philippines in 2024—a 12% increase compared to the previous year.
