The Cup of Joe (COJ), once high school kids who just played everywhere in 2019, is now one of the hottest bands in the country. Not only that, they also made history as the first Filipino act to enter the global hit lists. Their song Multo became a No. 1 seller and remains on the Spotify Global Chart.
On July 31, when tickets for the “Stardust” concert to be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on October 10 and 11 went on sale online, it immediately grossed over ₱70 million in just one day. Due to overwhelming demand and many fans who were unable to get tickets, they added an additional show on October 12 at the same venue.
COJ is composed of Gian Bernardino, Rafa Ridao, Gab Fernandez, CJ Fernandez, and Xen Gareza. The band rose to fame with the songs “Tingin,” “Estranghero,” and “Ikaw Pa Rin ang Iibigin Ko,” but it was Multo that gave them global recognition. This song, written by Rafa Ridao, deals with dealing with personal “multo” or life experiences—a theme that struck a chord with many listeners.
With the upcoming Stardust Concert, Multo is still expected to be a highlight, but we are also looking forward to other tracks from their album Silakbo like the song “Pahina.” This song serves as a reminder that life is like pages that we write every day.
They don't just party; they make us think about life and experiences. Cup of Joe is impressive, and their sold-out shows and continued rise in the music scene are proof of this.
