Typhoon Emong caused extensive damage in La Union, amounting to P102.84 million for infrastructure projects, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).
In addition, crops and livestock were also damaged, worth P60.69 million and P86,900, respectively. As a result, a state of calamity was declared in the province to expedite the release of funds for relief operations and repairs to the damaged areas.
Signal No. 4 was raised in La Union as the typhoon made landfall. According to Gov. Mario Ortega, many towns such as Bacnotan, Balaoan, Bangar, Bauang, Luna, San Gabriel, San Juan and Sudipen experienced brownout due to fallen trees and poles.
An estimated 36,076 families or 107,097 people were affected and 360 houses were damaged. clearing operations and power restoration are currently underway.
