A 21-month-old girl from Germany died after falling from a water slide while with her father at a water park in Lopar, Croatia.
According to the report, the child fell from a height of about four meters (13 feet) and landed on the concrete. This happened on July 22, according to witnesses. They allegedly heard the child's father shout, "Don't ask me, my child will die!" as he picked up his unconscious child.
A doctor immediately responded and performed CPR to try to save the child before being taken to the hospital by helicopter. However, it was discovered that the child had serious head and internal injuries. He was pronounced dead the next day.
Lopar Mayor Zdenko Jakuc said they were deeply saddened and shocked by the incident. The local government said the area was safe and quiet, and that there had never been an accident like this before. An investigation is ongoing into whether the slide was safe for the child's age and whether the correct safety rules were followed.
