A bizarre incident in Shanghai, China has gone viral after a man was sentenced to more than three years in prison. He was caught repeatedly spiking his officemate's drink with ‘truth serum’ to get his work plans.
The culprit was identified as Li, who was found guilty of “inducing drug use through deception.” According to the report, Li obtained the chemical during a business trip after the seller told him that a few drops were enough to make someone confess.
Li began the plan in August 2022 while he was having dinner with his office colleague Wang. He spiked her drink with the serum. Wang felt dizzy and confused, but Li still couldn't get the information he wanted. He repeated the same thing in October and November, causing the victim dizziness and vomiting.
Wang became suspicious when he noticed that whenever he and Li ate, he would only get sick. He took a test and found clonazepam and xylazine in his blood—tranquilizing drugs. He immediately reported it to the police, and when Li's house was raided, a bottle of ‘truth serum.’
Li confessed and was sentenced to 3 years and 3 months in prison along with a 10,000 yuan fine. The details of Wang's plan were not disclosed, but many netizens asked: “How important was that plan to lead to such a crime?”
