Passenger Kimberly Nakamura lost a jewelry box containing wedding rings, earrings, and diamond necklace after flying from Manila to Singapore on June 28, 2025. Upon arrival in Singapore, she noticed that her jewelry, which she had left inside her tote bag, was missing.
Upon his return to Manila, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and Airport Police Department helped him watch the CCTV footage. In the video, the jewelry box was seen on the podium near the boarding gate, where several airline staff were seen taking and even measuring the jewelry.
According to Nakamura, none of those who found the box handed it over to lost and found. He warned the staff that they would be sued if they did not return his belongings. The next day, his jewelry was also returned, although it had scratches.
MIAA General Manager Eric Ines said that while it is not clear whether the jewelry box was stolen or someone forgot to turn it over, the correct protocol was not followed. He said it was not reported immediately and was simply passed around among staff.
Nakamura is happy to have his jewelry back. He has no plans to file criminal charges, but he hopes there will be administrative charges against those involved to prevent this from happening again.
