The NBI operation in Parañaque ended in chaos after two Chinese nationals who were being arrested resisted. One of them punched the NBI agent, while the other also refused to surrender.
The operation began due to a complaint from another Chinese who was allegedly asking for P35,000 in exchange for his passport. According to the victim, he wanted to return to China after escaping a scam hub.
According to NBI Intelligence Service assistant director Noel Bocaling, the situation worsened when one of the suspects suddenly was injured. The agents immediately handcuffed them.
Three NBI agents were injured in the scuffle, but the victim's passport was returned.
The suspects are in the custody of the NBI in Muntinlupa and will face charges of robbery, extortion, direct assault, and violation of the Philippine Passport Act.
