Vice President Sara Duterte said there is nothing wrong with sharing an AI-generated video showing her support against impeachment. This comes after her ally, Senator Bato dela Rosa, posted the said video on social media.
According to Duterte, it is okay to create and share AI content as long as it is not used for business purposes. “If I am the owner of a media account, and I create AI to support someone, I don't see a problem — I am not selling it,” Duterte said.
Dela Rosa was criticized online after sharing a video in which two students expressed opposition to the impeachment. One of them said the case was "clearly politically motivated." The video has a “Veo” watermark, which is a tool from Google that creates videos using AI.
Dela Rosa still hasn't deleted his post. Instead, he joked in the comments section: “I'm attacking trolls! Just help me and laugh.” For him, the message is important, not the creator of the video.
Until now, Duterte's case is still pending after the Senate returned the complaint to the House. When the 20th Congress opens this July, it will be known whether the impeachment will be continued or completely thrown away.
