A 21-year-old man was shot and killed after a shootout with police during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City on the night of June 12. According to the police, their operatives pretended to be buyers to catch the suspect involved in illegal gun sales....
Instead of handing over the gun in exchange for P21,000, the suspect shot the policeman. The policeman quickly escaped and the back-up team immediately retaliated, resulting in the suspect being shot. A resident said they thought it was firecrackers, but it turned out to be a real shooting.
Before the operation, the suspect was allegedly involved in a robbery. At around 5 p.m., they were victimized by a delivery rider carrying two cellphones worth P81,000. The victim also identified the suspect after the encounter....
At the scene of the incident, two guns and a grenade were recovered. According to the investigation, the suspect was also involved in carnapping and gun-for-hire activities. The search for his accomplice in the robbery is ongoing.
