An Air India plane carrying 232 passengers and 12 crew crashed five minutes after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport on June 12. Flight AI171 was en route to London, but crashed near the Dharpur area of Meghaninagar.
According to the report, the plane was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and was 11 years old. Due to the long distance of its destination, it was carrying a lot of fuel, which may have caused it to explode immediately and cause a large fire after crashing.
Videos of the explosion were shared on social media, showing thick smoke and a large fireball at the scene. The plane reportedly hit the airport wall, further exacerbating the incident.
firefighters, ambulances, and rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene to provide assistance. The DGCA (Indian Civil Aviation Administration) confirmed that there were 244 people on board in total, including 2 infants.
Due to the accident, Boeing's stock price fell more than 4% in pre-market trading that same day. The investigation into the exact cause of the crash is still ongoing.
