PAGASA has officially declared the start of the rainy season in parts of Luzon and Visayas. This comes a few days after the southwest monsoon began to be felt, bringing heavy rains to these areas.
PAGASA advised the public to prepare for possible impacts of the rainy season such as flashfloods and landslides. It also reminded that there are periods when the rain may temporarily stop, called monsoon breaks.
In Luzon, strong monsoon winds and slightly rough waters are expected in the northern part. Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Cordillera, and Central Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. In Visayas and Mindanao, localized thunderstorms will be experienced.
