The quick response of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) led to the rescue of 11 people, including 6 children and a senior citizen, after their boat capsized in the waters of San Fernando, Romblon on Thursday.
According to the Coast Guard Station Romblon, the incident occurred at sea off Barangay España at around 3:00 p.m.. They were said to have come from watching a motorboat race and were on their way home when their boat suddenly lost balance, approximately 15 meters from the shore.
The personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Cajidiocan and CGSS Magdiwang were resting when they noticed the incident. They immediately responded to rescue the boat passengers.
All rescued are safe and in good condition now. The Coast Guard's swift action in the area was also commended.
The incident is a reminder to everyone to be careful and wear a life jacket whenever boarding a boat to avoid disaster.
