
A farmer resting at a farm in Batangas was hit by a car that fled from a checkpoint on Saturday afternoon. According to police, the red car tried to pass the checkpoint in Barangay Ilog, Taal, but it immediately backed up and fled when police saw the gun inside.
While fleeing, the driver almost ran over two police officers. He continued on the provincial road of Barangay Muzon, Sta. Teresita, and the two vehicles collided on the road. Later, the car entered a sugarcane field in Barangay Irukan where it ran over a farmer who was resting under the sugarcane.
After the accident, the suspect ran away and abandoned the vehicle at the scene of the incident. Upon investigation, police found inside the car 85 grams of suspected shabu worth approximately P578,000.
Also found inside the car were a .45 submachine gun, magnum 357 revolver, and several ammunition. According to the police, the suspect is a resident of Barangay Pansol, Taal. A hot pursuit operation is ongoing to find him.
