Four members of a family, including two minors, were killed in a shooting at their home in Biñan, Laguna. According to the investigation, the former security guard father shot his live-in partner and two children out of intense jealousy, before choosing to commit suicide.
According to PLt Col Allan Reginald Basiya of the Biñan City Police, there was a serious argument inside the house before the shooting. Neighbors heard shouting and gunshots. The mother and her 10-year-old daughter were dead on the spot, while the 11-year-old son died in the hospital. Their pet dog was also killed, while the cat was injured.
Police had difficulty responding because the house's gate was closed. The crime is believed to have been planned. According to neighbor Josephine Destua, the children live close to her and she often hangs out with them.
The suspect's brother apologized to the victims' family. “I hope they can forgive my brother,” he said. The Biñan police have considered the incident a case closed.
