Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 on April 21, 2025. Although frail, he still appeared in Saint Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday. After the news of his passing, world leaders and personalities from around the world immediately paid tribute. Many called him a beacon of compassion and defender of peace and justice.

In the Philippines, President Ferdinand Marcos said that Pope Francis was a person with an open heart to all, especially the poor and forgotten by society. In America, President Donald Trump and former president Joe Biden paid tribute, despite their differences on issues. Biden called Pope Francis one of the most important leaders of our time.

From Russia, President Vladimir Putin praised the Pope as a wise leader who promotes dialogue between churches. In the United Kingdom, King Charles said the pope has a concern for people and nature, and his work is making an impact around the world. In Argentina, President Javier Milei declared 7 days of mourning, while Lionel Messi thanked the pope for making the world a better place.

From Italy, Spain, Japan, Nigeria, and even the Dalai Lama from Tibet also paid tribute. Their words were the same: a good man, just, simple, and with a deep love for others. In Papua New Guinea, people remembered his visit and message of hope. Japan and Nigeria called him a protector of the environment and voice of climate action.

With his death, Pope Francis left a profound legacy of love, unity, and peace. His life is an inspiration to all to be warm-hearted and helpful.
