Two gunrunners were killed in an encounter in Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao del Sur on Tuesday morning, March 18.
The deceased were identified as Norsalam Ulama and Norsama Muntok, who were both killed instantly after being hit by multiple bullets in the encounter they allegedly initiated, according to Brig. Gen. Romeo Juan Macapaz of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
According to local officials and investigators, Ulama and Muntok opened fire on soldiers of the 33rd Infantry Battalion when they tried to stop them at a checkpoint in Purok 1, Barangay Old Maganoy, for a routine inspection.
Investigation revealed that the two were allegedly on their way to deliver an M16 assault rifle and a .45 caliber pistol to their buyer in Datu Abdullah Sangki.
The confiscated weapons are now in the custody of the Datu Abdullah Sangki Municipal Police Station.
