In a Facebook post, Maricel Igang recounted her experience and resentment at GCGMMC due to the death of her son. She allegedly brought her son to the hospital on March 3 due to fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. They were given medicine and requested a stool and urine test of the baby. When they returned home, the symptoms were still there, so they brought him back to GCGMMC on March 4. According to Igang, he asked to have his son confined but the hospital said the child was okay. They were only given Oresol for dehydration.
After they returned home, the child's condition worsened — he began to pull his hairand bite himself as if the pain was too much. On March 5, they returned the child to the hospital. Igang hoped that his son would recover after being given dextrose on his leg, but he did not survive. Igang believes that if his son had been confined, he would be alive today. “They were too slow to act. If he had been confined, he would still be alive today,” Igang said.
Despite the incident, GCGMMC assured that they will continue to provide quality and compassionate care to their patients. They also promised to share the results of the investigation with the family as soon as possible.
