A plane carrying 15 people crashed in a mountainous area in Colombia near the Venezuela border, killing all passengers and crew. Authorities said there were no survivors in the incident, including a lawmaker and a legislative candidate, deepening the tragedy.
The aircraft took off from the city of Cucuta and lost communication moments before it was due to land in Ocana. The flight was expected to last only 23 minutes, but contact with air traffic control was lost before noon, prompting the government to launch an immediate operation.
The Air Force was sent to conduct a thorough search of the area known for dense forests and volatile weather. Officials confirmed that the crashed vehicle was a Beechcraft 1900 twin-propeller plane, and are still investigating the cause of the accident while providing support to the bereaved families of the victims.
