IO Interactive has delayed its James Bond game 007 First Light from March to May 27, 2026 to allow for better polish and refinement. According to the studio, the game is now fully playable and the delay is to ensure the best version is released at launch.
The game stars Patrick Gibson as 26-year-old James Bond, along with a star-studded cast including Lenny Kravitz as villain Pirate King Bawma, Lennie James as mentor John Greenway, and Priyanga Burford as M. The story shows Bond's origin story as he goes through MI6 training on his way to becoming a 00 agent.
Gameplay focuses on stealth-heavy action, with the option of silent or loud approaches, hand-to-hand combat, gunplay, gadgets, and cinematic car chases in various locations around the world. The new date also fills the empty release window left by GTA VI, giving the spy epic a clearer path to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
