
Powerhouse Brazil led the first four teams to advance to the quarterfinals after six days of play in the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup (FFWWC) Philippines 2025. As the action continues, eight more teams are vying for the remaining four spots.
Brazil showed its mettle with a 6-1 win over Italy, giving them back-to-back wins in Group D and a guaranteed spot in the quarters with one game to go. The next teams to secure early advancement were Portugal, Spain, and Argentina after securing the top seeds in their groups.
Portugal defeated Asian champion Japan, 4-1, to move up to six points. Meanwhile, Last-8 spots were both booked by Argentina and Spain after their second wins.
The battle for the remaining slots is heating up. Poland and Morocco, both with three points each, will face off for Group A second spot. Host team Filipina5, which has two losses, is expected to be in high spirits due to historic goals by Inday Tolentin and Cathrine Graversen, and will face undefeated Argentina.
In the coming days, Thailand vs. Colombia, Japan vs. Tanzania, and Iran vs. Italy will face off for the final spot in the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals will be held on Monday and Tuesday, and the winners will advance to the semifinals on December 5.
