
The PNP will deploy more than 15,000 police officers for the big anti-corruption rally on November 30, in preparation against possible rioters at the protest.
According to the Metro Manila police, up to 300,000 people are expected to attend the Trillion Peso March. The number of police officers to be deployed has increased by 65.91% from the previous 9,099, said Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuano.
Protest actions will be held at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City and Quirino Grandstand in Manila. There will also be security at the Mendiola Peace Arch, San Sebastian College, House of Representatives, and Heroes’ Cemetery, according to Hazel Asilo of the NCRPO.
Civil disturbance management teams are on standby to defuse tensions between police and demonstrators. medical, legal, and investigation teams are also on standby around the protest.
The PNP also reminded that drone owners must obtain a permit before flying. Meanwhile, intelligence officers will be monitoring social media to monitor anonymous accounts that are spreading calls for violence, vandalism, or creating chaos.
