The captain of Barangay Tres de Mayo in Digos, Davao del Sur, Oscar Bucol Jr., was killed by unknown assailants while he was on Facebook Live on Tuesday night. Bucol was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after being hit by a bullet in the body.
Vice President Sara Duterte and Gov. Yvonne Cagas for information that will help catch those responsible. Bucol is a known supporter of the Duterte family.
The video shows Bucol in the garage interviewing the owner of a lost wallet when a red car pulls up in front of the house. Just seconds later, a series of gunshots are heard and people in the area run.
The footage also shows a bloody Bucol walking towards the gate before he collapsed. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
In Pampanga, another barangay captain was killed and another wounded in an ambush in Masantol. The slain were identified as Jinky Quiambao, 43, of Barangay Balibago, and the wounded were Enrique Yamat, 54, of Barangay Nigui. They were returning home from a meeting when they were ambushed by the assailants who fled on a motorcycle. The motive and possible suspects are still being investigated.
