The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has seized kush or high-grade marijuana hidden in Labubu toys at the Port of Clark.
According to the BOC, up to 538 grams of kush worth P807,000 was contained in a parcel declared as Labubu keychains. The shipment came from Hong Kong and was scheduled to be delivered to Biñan, Laguna.
Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the alertness of Port of Clark personnel and partner agencies in the operation. He said they will continue to work together to prevent the entry of illegal drugs into the country.
The parcel was flagged on November 15 after the X-ray Inspection Project detected the suspicious image. On November 19, the PDEA conducted a K9 sniff test which showed a positive indication of drugs. During physical inspection, two boxes of Labubu keychains with transparent pouches containing dried leaves and tops suspected to be marijuana were found.
BOC district collector Jairus Reyes also praised the expertise of frontline officers in profiling. A warrant of seizure and detention has been issued for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
