A juvenile reef shark in Zamboanga was found dead while floating near Sta. Cruz Island. The shark had a diaper on its head, which may have caused its death, according to Harvey Yap.
According to Yap, they often dive in Sta. Cruz, a protected area, for their underwater clean-up. This is the third juvenile reef shark he has seen in the area.
He also said that two hawksbill turtles died this year after swallowing plastic, even though they were rescued earlier.
The call for action on plastic pollution continues to destroy marine life in the Philippines.
