Filipinos were shocked by Sen. Imee Marcos' statement on Monday when she accused her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., of using illegal drugs. Imee said she and her family were aware of the habit and that it was serious.
Aside from the President, Imee also mentioned First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos who is also allegedly a drug user. She said that their problem is made worse because they are both married.
It is unclear whether Sen. Imee has evidence to prove his claim.
Meanwhile, Usec. Claire Castro called Imee's accusation a "desperate move." She challenged the senator to instead help the President clean up the government.
Castro said the allegation is baseless because the President allegedly tested negative for drugs. He urged Imee to show the real motive behind her statement.
