A couple and their 13-year-old son died in a tragic fire that destroyed their house in Mega Heights Subdivision, Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City, before midnight on Monday, October 20.
The deceased were identified as Sisinio Talara, his wife Annie Rose Talara, 40, and their daughter Mary Rose, 13. According to reports, the family was unable to escape after they were trapped inside their home as the fire spread rapidly.
Firefighters and police officers from various stations in the city immediately responded to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes. They were able to successfully contain the fire before it could damage other properties.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) investigation is continuing to determine the true cause of the fire.
According to local officials, the city government will assist the families with the expenses of the funeral of the victims, with financial assistance estimated to reach ₱100,000.
