The live action adaptation of the popular manga Sakamoto Days has been confirmed and is set to premiere in spring 2026. Along with the announcement, the first key visual was also released, showing Taro Sakamoto eating instant noodles while blocking a bullet with chopsticks — a scene that highlights the strange mix of normal life and sudden action.
Ren Meguro, a well-known actor and J-pop idol, will play Taro Sakamoto. He will portray both the chubby and slim versions of the character. SFX makeup and prosthetics will be used to achieve Sakamoto's cartoonish appearance. According to the production, approximately four hours of preparation are required each day before shooting begins.
Yuichi Fukuda will serve as director, while Keiya Taguchi will supervise the action choreography. Fukuda is known for creating live action that is full of comedy and intense fight scenes, so fans are excited for this project.
The live action Sakamoto Days will be released in Japan during Golden Week of 2026. Fans are expecting a lot as the film is expected to bring the same fun and action of the manga to the big screen.
