Actress and TV host Maine Mendoza has once again defended her husband Rep. Arjo Atayde after he was implicated in the corruption issue. In a lengthy post, she insisted that they do not live off of taxpayers money.
According to Maine, everything they have comes from years of work and savings, and they pay taxes properly. He insists that the accusation that their wealth comes from politics is wrong and hurtful. "That's not Arjo, that's not me, and that's not our family," he added.
He also made it clear that he would not agree to say that they stole. "If Arjo did something wrong, I will not defend him. But he has never stolen and he will never do that," Maine said.
He added that they understand that corrupt politicians are angry, especially when there is a disaster, but he said, "you are condemning the wrong person." They insisted that they would face the case and go through the proper process.
In the end, Maine said they will file legal action and are confident that the truth will come out. "Our conscience is clear and Arjo is not hiding anything. He is not guilty of theft," he concluded.
