The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced the suspension of classes and government work in Metro Manila and 14 provinces tomorrow, August 26, due to inclement weather.
According to PAGASA, a low-pressure area located ₱130 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar is bringing heavy rains. This could cause flash floods and landslides in some parts of the country.
Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the entire Visayas will experience cloudy skies and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours. Habagat will also continue to affect Southern Luzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Soccsargen, Mimaropa, and Antique.
The suspension covers all class levels from preschool to college, public and private, in the following areas: Metro Manila, Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.
According to PAGASA, the low-pressure area may weaken as it crosses land but could become a typhoon when it reaches the West Philippine Sea. If it becomes a tropical cyclone, it will be named "Jacinto."
