Comedians MC Muah and Lassy Marquez admitted that they lost more than P10 million gambling. In an interview, they shared how their casino addiction began and how they overcame it. According to MC, his addiction began after his parents passed away.

MC said that he was initially tempted to go to the casino to have fun. “It's fun at first, but when you lose, that's when you feel the regret. You want to make up for it, so keep going,” he said. In one night, their biggest loss reached ₱800,000. The same thing happened to Lassy, who only joined at first so that the group wouldn't leave her behind, until she got used to it.

It got to the point where they were only working to gamble. They lost sleep and could hardly rest. “We are not proud of this, but we tell the story to serve as a lesson,” said MC. Their total losses from 2011 to 2016 amounted to more than ₱10 million.

Lassy decided to quit in 2018 to save up and own a house of her own. She said she was left with debt and a mortgage on her jewelry. For MC, she stopped when she saw that she had almost nothing saved even though she had been in the comedy bar for a long time. “I saw that I only had P3,000 in my account,” she said. She prayed for a fresh start and found a new source of income.

Now, their lives are better and they call it true “financial freedom.” They no longer think about debt and are more focused on their family and a healthy lifestyle.
