A man was killed while two others were wounded after being shot by a riding-in-tandem gunman in Barangay Pio Del Pilar, Makati City early Thursday morning. According to police, the victims were drinking on the side of the road when they were suddenly shot by the assailants riding a motorcycle.
The man who died was 25 years old and a resident of the area. He was hit in the head and died instantly. According to the barangay official, the victim had a previous record for theft and was also involved in a stabbing incident in April.
The other two wounded were men from Cavite—one was hit in both legs while the other was hit in the left arm. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the victim's live-in partner, they were just stopping by the bar before heading to the store. The man chose to run away from her so that he would be the one hit by the bullets. “He wanted to keep the danger away from me,” the woman said.
Based on the initial police investigation, the victim knew the shooter. One of the possible motives is a dispute over illegal drugs. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing to identify the perpetrators.
